Cairo Magnolia Celebration
This annual TCHPP event is our biggest fundraiser of the year. The celebration has evolved over the past few years, and may include a meal or reception, special guests, entertainment, and even tours of the city’s most beloved historical buildings. This is a truly unique hometown experience that bridges the past with the present.
In conjunction with our nation’s 250th birthday, this year’s theme is a celebration of our local heritage and history. The Cairo Custom House Museum is scheduled to be reopened this summer after an extensive repair and restoration of the roof and we plan to feature it during the celebration. Along with the 1884 Cairo Safford Library, this 1872 federal building is the community repository for our collective memories and history, some of which dates well before the Revolutionary War!
All profits raised from this rain-or-shine event on the Cairo library grounds will go towards the local historical preservation efforts of our organization which include Cairo’s key architectural treasures: Magnolia Manor, the Custom House, the Cairo (Safford) Public Library, and Ward Chapel A.M.E. Church.
